Course Description:

This 3 day course will focus on OAT for the spine and pelvis. We will review screening and palpation skills of segmental lesions and restricted barriers. Joint localization and proper patient set up and specific manipulating skills.

 

Course Objectives:

At the end of the course, participants will be able to:

1. Describe indications, precautions and contraindications to the Osteopathic Articulation Technique(OAT).
2. Learn how to accurately identify restrictions to be manipulated utilizing a OAT
 through a biomechanical examination.

3. Demonstrate safe and effective use of OAT in the Spine and Pelvic area.

Day 2 

10:00- 11:00 Evaluation: Sacrum  *L on L, R on R, L on R, R on L, Unilateral Flexion/Extension

11:00- 12:45 Techniques: Sacrum  *L on L, R on R, L on R, R on L, Unilateral Flexion/Extension*

12:45- 1:45 Lunch - on your own

1:45- 3:00 Evaluation: Lumbar (L1- L5)  *ERS-R, ERS-L

3:00- 5:00 Techniques: Lumbar (L1- L5)  *ERS-R, ERS-L

 

Day 3

12:45- 1:45 Lunch

1:45- 3:00 Evaluation: Elbow and Wrist Region (Ulna, Radial Head, Radiocarpal, Distal Radioulnar and Ulna-Meniscal-Triquetral Articulations, Midcarpal Joint, First Carpometacarpal Joint)

3:00- 5:00 Techniques: Elbow and Wrist Region

 

Day 2 

10:00- 11:00 Evaluation: Knee Region (Tibia/Femur, Fibular Head, Anterior Medial Meniscus)

11:00- 12:45 Techniques: Knee Region

12:45- 1:45 Lunch

1:45- 3:00 Evaluation: Hip Joint, Ankle and Feet (Hip Joint, Tibia/Talus, Cuneiform, Plantar Dysfunction, Fifth Metatarsal Dysfunction, Plantar Styloid, Cuboid, Plantar Rotation)

3:00- 5:00 Techniques: Hip Joint, Ankle and Feet

 

Day 3

10:00- 11:00 Evaluation: Rib/Thoracic Region (1st- 10th Rib Inhalation Dysfunction, 11th- 12th Rib Exhalation Dysfunction)

11:00- 12:45 Techniques: Rib/Thoracic Region

12:45- 1:45 Lunch
